First wedding anniversary gift ideas?

My best friends one year marriage anniversary is TODAY. He has done nothing to prep for this. I would normally say he’s SOL, but lets try and help him.

He said that traditionally, the first gift is supposed to be “Paper” whatever that means. Does anyone have any ideas for a “paper” gift? We really need some help here.

Paper is so vast. If he’s broke he could write her a love letter for free, or if he has some cash, he could buy them plane tickets for a weekend getaway.

Maybe make them a scrapbook and put in some pictures of each of them as children and then ones of them together … and it will all be on paper [=

let him write her a nice romantic letter with all the usual things that she will want to hear. there’s the paper gift. and then tell him to take her out for a pub lunch and cinema. anniversaries are nicer being celebrated rather than buying gifts sometimes
